Damen Delivers CSD500 To Algeria
Specialized equipment supplier Damen Dredging Equipment has delivered a customized Damen Cutter Suction Dredger, or CSD500, unit to Algeria.
The Barracuda CSD500 dredger weighs 140 tonnes and delivers total installed power of 1,293 kilowatts. It will complete dredging work for a booster station and dredge piping for a water reservoir in an inland location in Algeria.
The customized unit was delivered with additional features that included a remote-controlled booster station, type BS500, as well as more than 30 containers of steel and flexible piping that will add 4 kilometers of floating and land discharge piping.
The CSD500 has been fitted with a longer cutter ladder that allows it to operate at a depth of 18 meters, and an X-mas tree wire-based mooring system. The unit will employed by Algerian customer Hydrodragage alongside two other Damen dredgers performing similar tasks.
Damen Dredging Equipment is a subsidiary of Dutch shipbuilder Damen Shipyards Group, which operates 32 shipbuilding and repair yards worldwide. Based in Nijkerk, in the Netherlands, the group employs about 9,000 people globally and delivers around 180 vessels annually.
