ALE Moves Chaba Wind Turbines
Heavy-lift specialist ALE has completed lifting and transportation of turbine components for the Chaba Wind Energy project in South Africa.
The move involved lifting, handling and site transportation for seven V112 3MW 84HH wind turbine components. The project team from ALE facilitated transportation and offloading for blades, nacelles, hubs and a drivetrain.
Heavy-lifting operations were carried out using 250-, 130- and 90-tonne mobile cranes. The components were loaded onto specialized trailers in four- and eight-axle configurations, and the delivery was completed in two weeks.
Located in the Great Kei Municipality, adjacent to the N2 near Komga, the Chaba Wind Energy project will generate 21 megawatts. The project is backed by a consortium of investors including InnoWind, Industrial Development Corp. and Chaba Winds of Change BBBEE Co.
