Mozambique LNG Presents Opportunities
Growing demand for liquefied natural gas, or LNG, is driving opportunities for onshore construction and associated breakbulk operators in Mozambique, according to research consultancy Africa House.
“Mozambique are calling for investors to undertake onshore operations as these will bring greater local beneficiation. There is urgent need within the current climate for gas suppliers to realize their projects as quickly as possible,” Paul Runge, director of projects and development finance at Africa House, said in a recent research note.
Pressure to complete projects to tight deadlines has resulted in a surge in interest in specialized breakbulk and project cargo services in both Mozambique and other resource rich African countries over the last year.
“There is a strong “first mover advantage” for competing gas supplying countries. Overland pipelines are being planned or built in a number of countries including Mozambique and Tanzania,” Africa House notes.
