Intermarine Adds 6 Ships to Fleet

Intermarine LLC, the Houston-based project, breakbulk and heavy-lift transport provider, said it will add six Ecolift F900 vessels to the company’s “Fleet of the Future.”

The 13,300-deadweight-ton vessels, which feature two cranes with a combined lifting capacity of up to 900 tonnes, will be delivered from the Hudong and Wenchong shipyards in China from the summer of 2017 through 2018. The order will double Intermarine’s fleet to a dozen vessels with more than 800 tonnes of lifting capacity.

“The vessels are an efficient upgrade to our existing bridge-forward F-Class ships. They have the advantage of better stability, larger holds, improved cranes and reduced consumption,” said Frank Fischer, managing director of tonnage procurement. “We partnered with CSSC Leasing to provide these vessels with long-term charters due to their financial stability and global reach.”

Intermarine earlier this year announced an order of 15 Ecolift F500 vessels to kick off its Fleet of the Future fleet renewal program. The Ecolift F500’s will begin delivery in the second quarter of 2016.

Intermarine said its fleet renewal program would broaden its service offerings to efficiently support clients’ cargo and trade requirements. The carrier operates the largest U.S.-flag heavy-lift fleet, controlling more than 50 vessels with lifting capacity up to 1,400 tonnes. It provides regular sailings in the Americas, West Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, as well as inducement voyages to Australia and other international ports.
