ALE Adds Mechanically Widening Trailers
Strategic heavy-lift specialist ALE has added 48 axle lines of new mechanically widening trailers to its global fleet.
The trailers will be primarily used in South Africa and can be widened from 3 meters up to the desired width for the project. Each trailer has axle spacing of 1.8 meters and feature a strong spine beam that can support loads up to 45 tons per axle line.
“These new widening trailers offer a smarter, safer and stronger transport solution for our clients. We will use less axles than our competitors for the same load requirements as well as offer improved stability at the same time,” said Ferdi Roberts, ALE sales manager for South Africa.
The new trailers are expected to deliver added geometric and hydraulic stability, making them well suited for onsite moves and road transportation, ALE said. The trailers were designed in conjunction with German manufacturer Goldhofer.
“With the ability to widen out at different configurations they provide the much sought-after flexibility that is lacking in the industry in South Africa. We now have more than three times the number of axle lines than our competitors,” Roberts said, adding that the new trailers would reduce the “risk of paying demurrage.”
ALE provides heavy-lift services for a range of industries, including oil and gas, energy, nuclear, civil, offshore, renewables, petrochemical, ports, marine, minerals and metals and mining.
