Steder Transforms Djibouti Move
Steder Group Djibouti has overcome difficult conditions to move nine transformers from the Port of Djibouti to a substation connected to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam project site.
A member of both the Worldwide Project Consortium and Cargo Equipment Experts networks for Djibouti, Steder Group delivered six 105-ton transformers and three 154-ton transformers to the site during the rainy season.
The poor weather conditions made certain parts of the available roads complicated to pass.
Transport across the Nile valley proved especially tough to navigate, and required expert skills and equipment, with road angles fluctuating by 12 percent, the company said.
Once work has concluded on the project, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam will be the largest dam in Africa. It will feature two power stations, containing 16 Francis turbines, with a total installed power of 6,000 megawatts and an estimated production of 15,000 gigawatt hour per year.
The Steder Group has been operating globally for more than 35 years, and specializes in chartering, logistics, warehousing and distribution.
